Fender Custom Shop – 1962 Stratocaster NOS – Candy Apple Red (2017)
Please note that this guitar is now SOLD…
For sale is a 2017 Fender Custom Shop 1962 Stratocaster NOS (New Old Stock) finished in Candy Apple Red.
The guitar is in excellent condition, it still has the pickguard fill on the scratchplate, and backplate! For full disclosure, I have spotted a mark in the nitro-lacquer near the left horn which I tried to photograph but the camera wouldn’t pick it up. There is also some wear the the lacquer on the rear of the headstock where the guitar has been placed on a wall-hanger.
Full specs can be seen on the floor traveller document as pictured. It comes with all case candy, hang tags, and the CoA. It comes fitted with a fresh set of D’Addario EXL110 10-46 gauge strings, ready to go from the genuine Fender Custom Shop hard case.
Please check out my YouTube video of the guitar in action, and if you have any questions regarding the guitar, please contact me.
Hi, I would love to know what the knob/pickup covers colour is? If you know or still have a photo of the spec sheet this would be much appreciated as i would like to order one with the same colours as this Fender Custom Shop – 1962 Stratocaster NOS – Candy Apple Red (2017). Cheers Jeff
Hi James,
With reference to your 2017 Fender Custom Shop-1962 Stratocaster NOS-Candy Apple Red Guitar as played in the Sultans of Swing Video.
I know the guitar is now sold, but would it be possible to supply me with the specification for the guitar as I think it’s one of the best sounding Strats I have ever heard.
Unusual having a bound neck, and I assume the pickups are the Custom shop Texas specials?
I would appreciate knowing the exact spec it was built to as I am having a handmade Strat built and would like to replicate it.
Very many thanks.
Regards
James Lane
Hi James,
Thanks for getting in touch.
The pickups on that guitar are Custom Shop Fat 60’s (https://www.fender.com/en-GB/accessories/pickups/custom-shop-fat-60s-stratocaster-pickup-set/0992265000.html?rdl=true). I have a picture of the Custom Shop shop traveller so I’ll email that to you directly so you can see the full exact spec.
It was (is) a great guitar, and yes quite unusual with the bound neck – I’ve not seen another before or since…
Let me know if you have any other questions about it etc.
Cheers,
James
